David Readman 7/10
Hard working performance but I don't think it carried.
HEAT 9/10
Wow! Despite vocalist missing they were hot!! Lots were expected and they delivered.
ROX DIAMOND 3/10
Zzzzzz. Sorry, didn't do it for me.
MITCH MALLOY 8/10
Great songs and Tommy D on guitar.
WHITE SISTER ???
Saw the first song but had to dash to get a curry. Sounded a bit keyboard orientated.
TALL STORIES ???
Caught the end. Sounded ok.
DANGER DANGER 10/10
Wow! Big fat dumb songs with huge choruses, what else do you need? Ted Poley is the ultimate frontman. But we also had Paul Laine popping up for a song and Mr Vaughn showed up for a chorus of Monkey Business! Fun fun fun!
FIREHOUSE 9/10
Great finish to a great weekend. They were pretty damn loud!
Thanx to all involved, my back is killing me and my ears are shot but we squeezed every ounce of fun from this event.
Again I am afraid I find myself agreeing with someone but only for the openings. Burn - OK but nothing special, David Readman tried hard but just didn't seem to be able to connect with the audience. HEAT were fab!! Drafted in at 2 weeks notice and then losing their lead singer 48 hours before the gig yet they barely let it affect them. Eric from Eclipse did a great job learning 4 (or was it 3) of their songs and then up steps the lead (no I am not going to try to spell his name) from Brother Firetribe to conduct us through a load of rock anthems. Fantastic set under very trying circumstances.
Rox Diamond were awful. Crowd was negligible. 'nuff said. Mitch Malloy was great - what an incredible voice. Then I find that Paul Laine is standing behind me on the stairs so get a chance to say "thanks for yesterday" which he seemed genuinely pleased to hear!
White Sister were very keyboard orientated but I quite enjoyed them and Tall Stories were OK but a little disappointing. Despite Steve Augeri's amazing voice I just couldn't connect too well.
Danger Danger - what fun!! Just what we needed. Another 10 hours of standing and not moving - this time on a platform beside the camera boom we needed a diversion and they provided it. Half way through and Ted is bounding through the crowd and standing almost next to us. The guy he did put his arm round managed the presence of mind to take a quick snapshot - there's one for the album.
Firehouse - Oh God. Mindless, moronic, monotonous and monsyllabic. At least Tyketto songs have "singalong verses with semi-intellectual lyrics". I suppose that "woah oh-oh oh oh" is simple enough for late at night but, oh dear me!! Gave it 15 mins, lost the will to live and went back to the hotel with time for a quick chat with Jess Harnell from Loud & Clear who was standing on the steps outside.
Fab experience and can't expect to please all the people all of the time. Well worth the money. Now sitting on the train on the way home and looking forward to more opinions.
missed Burn
David Readman- 6- dont know stuff but sounded OK
HEAT- 8- entertaining, tad too many covers but did them so well
Rox Diamond 7- thought the Kansas style pomp made a welcome change
Mitch Malloy 9- superb, he was well up for it and ballads particularly good
White Sister 10- great songs, great performance, great keyboards- good to have them back
Tall Stories 6- much too laid back and didnt connect with audience
Danger Danger 10- dumb and gloriously fun
Firehouse 7- solid performers but lack outstanding songs
Burn yep good solid openers, Mr Readman sang great and I love the album but the tea comment come on David not the way to get an audience onside! Heat - wow want to see them with proper singer as they have huge potential. Rox D mm yep OK but there was something not there for me but still good. Mitch Malloy well what can you say I even forgive him the God song part of the way through wow fantastic amazing and all the other cheesy words I can think of! White Sister for me were fantastic they were that good I wanted to cry cannot explain why but there was just something about they that hurt me! Their music got inside every bit of me and just grabbed me wow. Tall Stories was looking forward to but there was just something a bit sad there. Danger Danger havent a clue went for food as I dont like them from a long time back cannot connect to them. Oh god Firehouse what can I say what a fantastic ending to a great 48hrs of music.
I have torn ligaments in my ankle, a very bruised leg was hit on the head by the CDs they were chucking into the audience, hit in the eye by a plectrum and my bad ankle kicked by a very large lady but all told what a fantastic bunch of people I have met, what a laugh I have had and what fantastic soul inspiring music I have seen. Would I go through it all again - too right. Thank you to everyone involved to the bands to the other people on this network site may many friendships formed last and our ears and hearts always be ringing with the music we heard!
I found that Burn was a great opener and I give them a 8/10 .
For Readman I also think, it was to heavy for the Firefest . but for me 8/10 .
And than the day really started with HEAT . WOW !!! The future of melodic rock is garantied ! If you look at the last minute problems they had with the vocalist, greatfully replaced by Eclipse- vocalist they diserve a 10/10 !
Rox Diamond . One of the bands I came for was not what I expected . The singer and for the rest nothing happened on stage . Also a bad setlist . 5/10 .
Mitch Mallow . Great performer with a great band . 8/10 .
White Sister was one of the bands that everybody wanted to see and I think that everybody was satisfied . 9/10 .
I just saw the end of Tall Stories and only heard disapointed reactions . Why doesn't Steve Augery sing some of the songs from the Journey periode whom made him famous . Everybody would have been happy !
Danger Danger make me crazy and that's what they did ! You like it or not but it is FUN FUN FUN ! 10/10 .
And than when everybody is allready satisfied about the Firefest V , Firehouse comes on stage . A cold start, ending in a hot ending . 8/10 .
It was my first Firefest and I sure know it want be my last . Firefest 10/10 .
Burn..8/10
Great great!! they played much too short. Burn deserve much more attention. Check out their albums!
David Readman..7/10
David again, nice solo album but on stage it turned out not that good. I expected more of him. (the new song of Alex Beyrodt I liked)
HEAT..9/10
fun! That's how you HEAT up the audiance, althought they missed their own vocalist, Eric of Eclipse did very well! Also nice to see Pekka (Brother Firetribe) do some coversongs!
Rox Diamond..3/10
gosh..that was boring. After the first song we went for a beer. Would rather see Burn or HEAT to play a bit longer...
Mitch Malloy..8/10
Back for some quality! First time to see Mitch. Great performance and songs. And Tommy D. on guitar!!
White Sister..9/10
I didn't know the songs, but now I do!! oh what a show and for me the highlight of the day!
Tall Stories 6/10
Dissappointing, couldn't get into the songs. The new songs need to grow a little..
Danger Danger..9/10
Fun fun fun!! Topact and for me the headliner of the day
Firehouse..8/10
Finally see them live. They played lot of their first 2 albums and it turned out very well!
Mitch Malloy..10/10
Unbelievable! He set the place on fire!!!!!!
White Sister..8/10
I don't know their music but the energy in the audience sucked me right in!
Tall Stories 10/10 The thrill of finally getting to see them after 17 years gives it a 10
I think they were in the wrong place in the line up and that's why everyone felt disappointed. I think Steve sounded great and having him do Stone In Love into Close Your Eyes was a highlight. I love the new songs. But hey, this was what made me say yes to Firefest so I guess I'm biased :)
Missed the first 2 bands due to major hangover and goin to watch the footie instead, and judging by the reviews of hese bands i'll give myself a solid 9/10 for deciding to miss them.....
Turned up to see the last 3 HEAT songs, which included a whitesnake & journey song, heard the the vocalist was ill, therefore unable to perform thats why they did all the cover songs. 5/10
Rox diamond, i felt werent up to being on the bill, just not good enough.3/10
Mitch Malloy was superb as usual, Tommy D's guitar was perhaps too quiet, very mildly overdriven, which gave the set a very laid back vibe. Mitch's vocals were perhaps the best of the weekend. 9/10.
White Sister, didnt really know what to expect as i was 10 the last time they were in the UK, but was blown away. had u huge grin on my face all the way through. Worked the crowd superbly, and sounded spot on. they even had a key-tar!!! 10/10
Tall Stories - there was huge hype around these guys, and or me they didnt live up to it. Poor stage presence, although Steve Augeri's voice is world class, and perhaps a little too laid back, at just the time when everyone starts to flag a little after 2 or 3 long days. 6/10
Danger Danger - Perhaps the best that ive seen them. Gave it a lot more attitude than usual, and played some different tracks (Horny son of a bitch, boys will be boys, afraid of love, blame it on love).
Having Paul Laine sing under the gun was a masterstroke, this is the one he did the best job on when he toured as vocalist with D2, and it sounded imense (check out some older versions of him doing it on youtube).
Ted going into the audience gave the crowd a buzz. Complete contrast to the previous act, and a much needed kick up Firefest's ass. 10/10
David Readman - Great singer but his music was run of the mill to me. (If you like Prog/Power metal you would enjoy Adagios 'Sanctus Ignis' which is a great album that David sings on) 5/10
Mitch Malloy - Run of the mill again. 5/10
White Sister - Really enjoyed these guys!! Fantastic keyboards and great songs. I will definately be getting their albums. 8.5/10
Tall Stories - Augeri sounded fantastic but I found the music boring. 5/10
Danger Danger - Wow. I don't even have a Danger Danger record and I was so impressed. Is there a better frontman than Ted Poley?? The band were tight, and the atmosphere was great. Must get some of their music.....9/10
Firehouse - I was really looking forward to seeing Firehouse. They have some of the best 80s rock songs ever on their first album. What ruined their set for me was possibly the WORST GUITAR SOUND I HAVE EVER HEARD LIVE. What was the soundman on?? Seriously, the guitars were far too low for most of the bands at the festival, but for Firehouse it sounded too low AND that the amp was hidden behind 5 matresses!! Appalling. I won't give a rating to the band as I think it is unfair to given the guitars were so bad.

...I found the vocals too loud for all the bands so much so that you couldn't hear the guitars too well. I know all the bands had great singers but that's one reason why the soundman DOESN'T have to keep crancking up their microphones!

Valentine, 7/10 albeit Hugo's voice wasn't 100% they delivered a very entertaining gig.
Jeff Scott Soto, 3/10 never was into his stuff, so it was a bit ho hum at times for me.
Pink Cream 69, 8/10 I was really looking forwarded to seeing them again since the last live gig seen was back in 92, they did an excellent performance and it was awesome to hear them do Talk To The Moon live again, all in all, hope they come back to the uk (personally Scotland for me) soon.
Tyketto, 10/10 Danny was in great voice and rocked the roof off the place, he put so much energy, power and delivered (which seemed a short setlist, unless I was just so into it, it flew by) an awesome performance. Despite Brooke opting out PJ Zitarosa delivered, as I never doubted, an outstanding performance and looked like he was enjoying ever minute of it too! But who was the unknown Tyketto guitarist appearing with them for the first time, oh it was Tony lol but what a gig, awesome stuff.
Mitch Malloy, 7/10 really enjoyed his performance.
White Sister, 8/10 were they good or what!! Excellent gig, I’ve only got the Passion By Fashion album and even though they only did a few from that the whole performance was great.
Tall Stories, 9/10 omg what a treat that was, I just enjoyed the whole performance from beginning to end; The whole band put on a great show.
D2, 6/10 I’m not into them big style but they did do a great show with lots of energy
Firehouse, 8/10 was really looking forward to them, love their material, I think they did an excellent set but I felt the drum solo went on a bit too long, which was a bit disappointing, would have been ok if the performance time was longer but anyway.
The Firefest team, 11/10 In my opinion, Firefest is all about everyone having a great time, enjoying the bands to the max and no mud on the ground lol The weekend was over way to fast!!
